The Gopher Tortoise Council is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the conservation of the gopher tortoise and the ecosystems that depend on it.
Known as a keystone species, the gopher tortoise creates burrows that provide shelter and refuge for more than 350 other species, making its survival vital to the health of Florida’s upland ecosystems.
Through research, education, habitat conservation, and collaboration, the Council works to ensure a future for gopher tortoises throughout their range.
